Nutrition Programs
URRO provides comprehensive nutrition interventions focused on both preventive and curative nutrition to address the nutritional needs of vulnerable communities, particularly in the Bay region of Somalia. These interventions are implemented through partnerships with UNICEF, WHO, WFP, and local ministries, with the goal of combating malnutrition and promoting long-term health
Health Care Programs
URRO implements a comprehensive range of health activities aimed at improving the overall health and well-being of vulnerable communities in Somalia. These initiatives are designed to address immediate health needs while promoting long-term health outcomes, particularly in maternal and child health, to prevent maternal deaths and reduce child mortality rates. Key programs include:
Water Sanitation (WASH)
URRO works to enhance access to clean and safe drinking water by rehabilitating existing water points and constructing new boreholes and wells. This ensures communities can access safe water sources, significantly reducing the risk of waterborne diseases and improving health outcomes.
Protection Programs
URRO implements a comprehensive range of protection interventions aimed at safeguarding the rights and well-being of vulnerable communities in Somalia. These initiatives are designed to address immediate protection needs while promoting long-term safety and resilience
Livelihood Programs
We are implementing a range of livelihood interventions designed to support economic recovery in communities. These include empowering farmer cooperatives, supplying gardening inputs to Infant and Young Child Feeding groups, and providing business grants that enable communities to rebuild their economic stability.
Education Programs
We ared dedicated to providing quality education to out-of-school and vulnerable children, particularly in remote and underserved areas of Somalia. Our initiatives aim to enroll these children in educational programs and facilitate their ongoing participation in learning activities.
Capacity-building Programs
URRO is committed to empowering Somali youth by providing capacity-building programs that promote employment, entrepreneurship, leadership, and life skills development. Recognizing the critical role of youth in rebuilding and stabilizing the country. Our initiatives focus on fostering self-reliance and leadership among young people
Environmental Protection Programs
URRO is enhancing environmental protection through a multifaceted approach that focuses on sustainability and community engagement, and also promotes the use of alternative energy sources, such as solar power, to mitigate the reliance on traditional fuels like firewood and charcoal
Gender Equality and Social Inclusion
URRO develops and implements programs aimed at awareness campaigns to challenge social norms and attitudes that perpetuate gender inequality and discrimination

About Us
Umbrella for Relief and Rehabilitation Organization (URRO) is a Somali-led NGO based in Qansahdhere District, working across Bay and Bakool regions. We deliver life-saving relief and long-term development programs focused on nutrition, food security, livelihoods, education, health, WASH, environmental protection, and peacebuilding. Our mission is to restore dignity and build resilience in vulnerable communities through partnerships with donors, UN agencies, and local leaders.
