WHO WE ARE

Empowering Change Through Research and Innovation

About us

The Umbrella for Relief and Rehabilitation Organization (URRO) is a Somali-led non-governmental organization founded in Qansahdhere District. Born from the unification of two respected local NGOs – GRRO and SERRA – URRO was established to respond more effectively to the humanitarian and development needs of communities in the Bay and Bakool regions.

Our Mission

A Somalia where all people live in dignity, free from hunger, poverty, and conflict, and have equal opportunities to thrive.

Our Vision

To improve the quality of life for vulnerable communities through humanitarian relief, sustainable development, and capacity building, while fostering peace, stability, and self-reliance.

Our Core Values

Compassion

We believe in the inherent dignity of every human being. Our work is driven by empathy and a deep desire to alleviate suffering, prioritizing the most vulnerable — children, women, the elderly, and displaced families.

Integrity

We uphold the highest standards of honesty, transparency, and accountability in everything we do. Our communities and partners trust us because we manage resources responsibly and remain true to our commitments.

Collaboration

Lasting change is only possible through strong partnerships. We actively engage communities, local leaders, donors, and international agencies, ensuring that everyone works together toward common goals.

Excellence

We strive for the highest quality in our programs, services, and operations. By continuously learning and adapting, we maximize our impact and deliver meaningful results for the people we serve.

Equity

We believe all people should have equal access to opportunities, resources, and a dignified life. Our programs aim to reduce inequalities and ensure no one is left behind, regardless of gender, age, or background.

Why Choose Us?

At URRO, we are more than just a humanitarian organization — we are a trusted partner for communities, donors, and agencies. Here’s why:

URRO was born from the union of two long-standing Somali NGOs, giving us decades of experience and strong relationships with local leaders, elders, and authorities. This trust allows us to reach the most remote and vulnerable communities quickly and effectively.

We have successfully implemented large-scale programs with partners such as WFP and UNICEF, delivering nutrition, health, education, and livelihood support to over 109,000 people in Bay and Bakool regions.

Our staff are trained professionals who live and work within the communities we serve. They understand local challenges and are passionate about finding lasting solutions.

We don’t just respond to emergencies; we also tackle the root causes of poverty, hunger, and conflict. By combining relief with long-term development, we build stronger and more self-reliant communities.

We take stewardship of donor resources seriously. Our monitoring systems and community feedback mechanisms ensure that every dollar and every resource is used efficiently and ethically.

We collaborate with international organizations, local authorities, and community groups to ensure coordinated responses and sustainable impact.
